Mayweather McGregor (post fight analysis)

Well it was a good fight. To the enjoyment of all the fans who made this fight possible, it wasn't boring and didn't go the distance. Floyd Money Mayweater defeated The Notorius Conor McGregor in 10 rounds via total knockout. The whole spectacle was amazing. Starting with the prelims and main card, it was awesome. The main event also didn't dissapoint. While the emotions were flying during the press tours and weighins, on fight night both fighters were all business. The fight started with McGregor being very active. His stance was awkward and he came from many weed angles, often switching his stance. To the enjoyment and amazement of all, McGregor was able to desisively win the first three rounds. The next three rounds were very even, with Mayweather becoming more offensive rather than defensive like in the beginning. It was clear however that McGregor was tiring whereas Mayweather was still fresh. Mayweather continued on his momentum into the later rounds. In the end...

Mayweather McGregor (2 Days Away)

The biggest fight of the year is just two days away. By now both camps are done with their training and now finalizing their weight to make weight. Mayweather said that he does not believe McGregor will make weight, causing Mayweather to receive his money via fine.  Both training camps have been entertaining. McGregor's camp followed the Paulie Malignaggi story. Malignaggi, a former two weight boxing champion, joined the McGregor camp in sparring sessions. After verbal exhancged between the two, footage was released from Dana White's Instagram showing McGregor knocking down Malignaggi. Malignaggi has since left the camp with harsh words for McGregor.  Mayweather's camp has been less entertaining. His father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., has said that his son hasn't trained as hard for this fight as the other fights. This caused a lot of the media to say that Mayweather isn't taking this fight seriously. In an interview with Stephen A. Smith, Mayweather also said ...

Jon Jones Tests Positive

On Tuesday, August 22nd, it was reported via TMZ Sports that the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) tested Jon Jones positive for the Turinabol. Turinabol is a performing-enhancing supplement, similar to steroids. In case you didn't read my UFC 214 recap, Jon Jones defeated Daniel Cormier via KO in the third round. After a decisive victory to win back the light heavyweight belt, along with an emotional post fight speech in which he thanked his loyal supporters, we all thought that Jones was clean past his bad behavior. His victory was a feel good story for the UFC. After this news broke, which was soon confirmed by UFC President Dana White, the whole community was stunned. We all truly thought that he was clean. Being that this is his second violation of USADA testing, he will face a more severe punishment. It will likely be anywhere from 2 to 4 years. Dana White has not confirmed the status of the light heavyweight belt. If the testing stands, the fight would be cal...

Kyrie, IT4 Trade

Today, Kyrie Irving was traded to the Boston Celtics from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and the Brooklyn Nets 2018 1st Round Pick. This is a huge trade in the NBA that completely changed the outlook of the East. Kyrie requested a trade about a month ago. Many people believed that this was relating to rumors about LeBron leaving next summer. The top two teams of the East trade major team players. It is important to note that Thomas has one year left on his contract, and will likely look for a max contract. The Celtics never wanted to give him the max, so this deal makes sense. Personally, I think the Celtics won this trade. They get a great player in Irving to team up with Hayward. Irving also has two years left on his deal and he will be motivated to prove that he can do it on his own. Although they lose Jae Crowder who is a solid player, they will likely look to put rookie Jason Tatum in his role. Although I think the Celtics w...

Kobe or LeBron

The GOAT, Michael Jordan made headlines yesterday by publicly stating that Kobe Bryant is #2 all-time whereas LeBron is #3 all time. Obviously with MJ being #1. While there is a case to be made for both, I believe LeBron is #2 all time, ahead of Kobe. Now Kobe has a more devoted following, so Kobe supporters were quick to point out the obvious. Yes, Kobe does have five which is more than three. And yes Kobe won two without Shaq whereas LeBron needed Kyrie and Wade. These are both totally valid arguments. But whereas Kobe was basically a Los Angeles MJ 2.0, LeBron changed the game. A 6'9" forward who can seamlessly play all positions was unheard of. From the moment he stepped into the league in 2003 as the number one overall pick out of high school, all eyes were on him. Whereas Kobe was relatively unknown until he broke out, LeBron was famous since junior year being on the cover of SI named "The Chosen One." Also, LeBron changed the game outside of the court. No ...

NBA Teams on the Rise

This NBA offseason has seen many changes throughout the league, and we still have a long way to go. Notable players switching team include Paul George, Jimmy Bulter, Chris Paul, and Gordan Hayward. This year's draft has also been one of the greatest, although it's too early to say. But the 2017 Class has a lot of talent, like Lonzo Ball, Markelle Fultz, De'Aaron Fox, and Jason Tatum. I'm gonna be looking at teams that are undeniably rising in the power rankings. Timberwolves: Getting Jimmy Bulter for only Zach Levine and change was an amazing steal trade. Now their core of Bulter, Wiggins, and Anthony-Towns, is amazing and will only get better. They are all in their prime right now. The Timberwolves also aren't done. Kyrie mentioned them as one of his favorite teams to be traded to, which shows how far the small market team has gone this offseason. Bucks: Although they aren't that active as of now, they have a young group of talented guys. They were just...

UFC 214 Post-Fight

Wow. Jon Jones defeats Daniel Comier via Knockout in the 3rd round. In the most antiquated fight in an amazing card, Jon Jones proved again to be the greatest of all time in the light heavyweight division. The first two rounds were close, with Jones winning the first and Cormier winning the second. Due to Jones's incredible 84 inch reach, he was able to maintain distance with constant leg kicks. In the middle of the third round, at which point was even, Jones stuck Cormier with a swift left leg kick to the face of Cormier. He was immediately shook, stumbling around the Octagon until Jones got on top of him. From then it was basically over, and Jones got Cormier with a few nice elbows, until the fight was called over. In the other fights, Tyron Woodley was able to defend off Demian Maia to hold on to the Welterweight Championship. It was a very boring fight, setting a record for the least amount of punches thrown. The whole fight was Woodley defending Maia's 24 takedown at...
