Jon Jones Tests Positive

On Tuesday, August 22nd, it was reported via TMZ Sports that the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) tested Jon Jones positive for the Turinabol. Turinabol is a performing-enhancing supplement, similar to steroids.

In case you didn't read my UFC 214 recap, Jon Jones defeated Daniel Cormier via KO in the third round. After a decisive victory to win back the light heavyweight belt, along with an emotional post fight speech in which he thanked his loyal supporters, we all thought that Jones was clean past his bad behavior. His victory was a feel good story for the UFC.

After this news broke, which was soon confirmed by UFC President Dana White, the whole community was stunned. We all truly thought that he was clean. Being that this is his second violation of USADA testing, he will face a more severe punishment. It will likely be anywhere from 2 to 4 years. Dana White has not confirmed the status of the light heavyweight belt. If the testing stands, the fight would be called as a 'No Contest' meaning Cormier would get the belt back.

Cormier, in a statement released soon after the news broke, said how we shocked.
"In my mind, on July 29, I competed, and I lost. I thought Jon Jones was the better man that day. I don't know what to think anymore. I can't believe we are going through all of this again. We will see what happens next."
