UFC 214 Post-Fight

Wow. Jon Jones defeats Daniel Comier via Knockout in the 3rd round. In the most antiquated fight in an amazing card, Jon Jones proved again to be the greatest of all time in the light heavyweight division. The first two rounds were close, with Jones winning the first and Cormier winning the second. Due to Jones's incredible 84 inch reach, he was able to maintain distance with constant leg kicks. In the middle of the third round, at which point was even, Jones stuck Cormier with a swift left leg kick to the face of Cormier. He was immediately shook, stumbling around the Octagon until Jones got on top of him. From then it was basically over, and Jones got Cormier with a few nice elbows, until the fight was called over. In the other fights, Tyron Woodley was able to defend off Demian Maia to hold on to the Welterweight Championship. It was a very boring fight, setting a record for the least amount of punches thrown. The whole fight was Woodley defending Maia's 24 takedown at...

OBJ

Odell Beckham Jr. has made headlines for wanting to be the highest paid player in the NFL. This would mean a huge contract valued over 100 million dollars. Now, Beckham is a phenomenal player, by far the best on the Giants, but he's not the best in the league. Seeing Antonio Brown get his huge contract along with Megatron's previous 100 million dollar deal, Beckham also wants a huge payday. I do not believe the Giants should pay him the amount that he wants. For the last three seasons, he has been their entire offense. Every opponent defensive game plan has been limiting this guy. But in the NFL you get paid for what you will do, not what you have done. The Giants just acquired Brandon Marshall and drafted Evan Ingram out of Ole Miss, both over 6'4". They also have Sterling Shepard who will only improve after a pretty good rookie year. Additionally, with the talents of Damon "snacks" Harrison, Landon Collins, Oliver Vernon, Jason Piere-Paul, and Janoris Jen...

Warriors

The Golden State Warriors quietly had one of the best offseason in the whole league. While Minnesota and Cleveland got all the headlines, the Dubs managed to keep all their major pieces and minor pieces. They were able to retain Zaza Pachulia, Andrew Iguodala, Shaun Livingston, Javale McGee, David West, and most importantly Kevin Durant. Not only did they resign Durant, but he willingly gave up 9 million dollars in order to help keep the team together. The money was used primarily to get Iguodala to stay, who provided key minutes defensively guarding LeBron in the Finals. Their big four of Curry, Thompson, Durant, and Green is still the best core in the league. The Warriors, who went 15-1 in the Playoffs, are miles ahead of everyone else causing teams to rethink how they approach the offseason. As of right now their starting five remains: Curry, Thompson, Durant, Green, and Pachulia. So while the Cavs are struggling to keep their pieces, the Dubs watch as the heavy favorites to win...

UFC 214 Pre-Fight

Tonight's UFC main event: Daniel Cormier vs Jon Jones 2 takes place tonight at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event starts at 10:00 pm, meaning the fight will likely start around 11:30 pm. This is the second time that the two fighters will meet. Their first fight, Cormier vs Jones, was two and a half years ago and saw Jones be victorious. Cormier is the current Light Heavyweight Champion, with Jones, the #1 seed, hoping to take the belt back. This fight has been highly anticipated for a very long time. Last year they were originally scheduled to fight at UFC 197, but due to Jones not passing a drug test, they did not. To both fighters, it is clear that this is their best opponent. Both hate each other. You can watch the fight on UFC Pay-per-View (https://www.ufc.tv/video/ufc-214) for $60.

Lonzo Ball

The LA Lakers point guard and new franchise player Lonzo Ball will carry the hopes and dream of the Lakers organization. Out of UCLA and Chino Hills Highschool, he will take on the daunting task of turning around the historic franchise in hopes of returning them to the promise land post-Kobe Bryant. The Lakers are a very young team, with a roster full of potential and rising talent. Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Now no one expects a championship, but the Lakers are definitely improving. Through the draft and free agency, Magic Johnson has done a great job. Lavar Ball's statement saying Lonzo will carry them to the playoffs made headlines. I personally believe that they can sneak into the 8th seed, but it will be close. However, in the very good West, it will be very hard. I love Lonzo's passing ability and general feel for the game. I believe he will carry the Lakers for many years to come, and possibly help i...

USMNT Wins Gold Cup

Yesterday Wednesday, July 26th the United States Men's National Soccer Team became champions of the CONCACAF 2017 Gold Cup. They won 2-1 vs Jamaica with goals coming from Jose Alteador and. This is a great win for Head Coach Bruce Arena. While this is an accomplishment, CONCACAF doesn't have the best competition. The real test will be the FIFA World Cup in Russia 2018. While no one expects the USA to win it all, all eyes will be watching to see if they can improve. Check out the highlights here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cEHwcvj7LM

El Clásico Miami

On Saturday it's FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid at 7:30 pm. It will be the first time that the two teams play in North America. It will be part of the UEFA Independent International Champions Cup. So while it technically doesn't count, it will still draw a massive crowd at Miami brand new Hard Rock Stadium. The crowd is expected to be over 90,000 people. Both teams likely won't play there usually starting XI, but the event alone is still gonna be huge. Last year both El Clasico's were amazing, one ending in a Lionel Messi 93' goal. Hopefully, this one also lives up to the hype.

Cavaliers

Everyone has their own opinions about why Kyrie choose to request a trade. A lot of people can't understand why he would want to leave the best player in the world. --Yes Lebron is still currently better than KD. I think that the biggest reason was that Kyrie wants his own team. When he signed his mega 5-year deal, he signed it under the impression that it would be his team. Two weeks later it became Lebron's town for the second time. Plus a lot of athletes will admit this, once you have one title, you start to care about other things. So right now he's in his prime, and has a ring, and made the clutch shot over Curry to get the ring, so now what he wants is his own team. I think that's fair considering LeBron is probably gonna leave after this year. Some people think it's ungrateful but I think it's just smart. Besides, why is LeBron allowed to leave Cleveland but Kyrie can't? I don't think he'll get traded to where he wants, but I do think he...

Mayweather McGregor (Press Tour)

This mega fight will be awesome. Even though I expect Mayweather to win, I'm rooting hard for McGregor. They're both gonna make so much money that there both winners at the end of the day. They will each make more than $100 million. Currently, they are undergoing a 4-day 4-city press tour, going to L.A., Toronto, New York, and London. It is clear that both fighters dislike each other. It was very entertaining to see the fighters exchange in verbal combat. A lot of explicit language bordering on racist made this press tour amazing. Both fighters will now train for the next month until the fight. Both of their camps are in Las Vegas. It was also announced that the fight will cost $100 on Showtime PPV. Early projections for the buys are around 7 million, which would earn $700 million in revenue. at the first press conference
